Cookie Policy

Last updated: March 28, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies The NCA Hub uses, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit — such as your preferences and browsing patterns — making your next visit easier and the site more useful to you.

In addition to traditional cookies, we also use browser storage technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage, which function similarly but store data locally in your browser rather than sending it to a server with every request.

2. Cookies and Storage We Use

We use a small number of strictly necessary and analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party marketing cookies.

Name / Provider Type Purpose Duration
Google Analytics 4
(googletagmanager.com)
Analytics cookie Measures site traffic and usage patterns anonymously. Helps us understand which articles are most useful and how visitors navigate the site. No personally identifiable information is collected. Up to 2 years
Cloudflare
(__cf_bm, _cfuvid)
Strictly necessary / security cookie Set automatically by Cloudflare, our hosting and security provider. Used to detect and mitigate bot traffic and to maintain site security and performance. These cookies are essential for the site to function safely. Session or up to 30 minutes
cookie-consent
(localStorage)
Preference storage Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted or declined) so we do not show the consent banner on every page visit. Persistent (until cleared)
nca_read_articles
(localStorage)
Functionality storage Keeps a local record of articles you have read so we can personalise the "Recommended Next" section and mark previously read articles. This data never leaves your device. Persistent (until cleared)
nca_helpful_*
(localStorage)
Functionality storage Remembers whether you have already submitted a "Was this helpful?" vote on a given article, to prevent duplicate submissions. Persistent (until cleared)
Chat / quiz state
(sessionStorage)
Session storage Temporarily holds the state of the AI chat widget and readiness quiz during your browsing session. This data is automatically deleted when you close your browser tab. Session only

3. Google Analytics and Consent Mode

We implement Google Analytics 4 with Consent Mode. By default, analytics storage is set to denied when you first visit the site. Google Analytics only activates data collection after you explicitly accept cookies via our consent banner.

If you decline cookies, Google Analytics will not collect your data. Cloudflare security cookies will still be set as they are strictly necessary for the site to operate.

4. Your Rights Under GDPR and CASL

Depending on where you are located, you may have the following rights regarding cookies and the personal data associated with them:

Under Canada's CASL (Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation), we obtain your express or implied consent before collecting personal information via tracking technologies where required.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected].

5. How to Opt Out

Browser Settings

You can configure your browser to block or delete cookies at any time. Note that blocking all cookies may affect site functionality. Instructions for major browsers:

Google Analytics Opt-Out

To opt out of Google Analytics specifically across all websites, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. This prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits.

Clearing localStorage

To clear locally stored reading history and consent preferences, open your browser's developer tools (F12), navigate to Application > Local Storage, and delete entries beginning with nca_ or cookie-consent. Alternatively, clearing your browser's site data will remove all localStorage entries for this site.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
